Car subwofer to shelf component?

I have seen other people conect there car subwoofer to their shelf component. 
what type of wire do i need?

Mixing car and home audio gear is always a Bad Idea. 

You can buy a Polk 10 inch sub, such as the powered PSW10 for about $130.

it's not necessarily the wire, it's the ohm load. Car speakers are generally 4ohms and home audio are 8ohms.

You need a really big wire.  duh!
