A little more detail would be nice, you haven't even told us what kind of speaker you are talking about. Typically speakers do not have an input and an output, they have a positive terminal and a negative terminal. 

The only speakers I've seen input/output jacks on are speakers which have internal amplification. In that case, the input and output jacks would be RCA jacks. The output jack is so you can "pigtail" one speaker to another (ie connect speakers in a chain). My computer speakers are like this.
