Equalizers are used to reduce areas that are adding coloration, not to boost to correct for inadequacy's of the system or speakers. They are generally used to help create a flat and uncolored frequency responce because of interactions of speakers and room acoustics. Boosting like Maniac had mentioned can put the system at risk because your now putting excess strain on the speakers and amplifier. There is no one setting for every system, each system must be adjusted to compensate for coloration's in the responce. So in other words learn how to use a equalizer otherwise your much better off not using one at all.

If these were cars then the Astro's are a big rufty-tufty 4x4 truck compared to the Bose as a nimble 2-seater sports car. Both are right for the roles they perform, but if you want to go off-roading then you're not going to be interested in a sports car and vice versa. So the opinion of which is "best" very much depends on what you're looking for in the first place. I know this probably isn't the answer you wanted but it is the truth.

The above presumes you have a Sky HD box with HDMI out. If you're still working off a Sky+ box then it's really time to upgrade. Secondhand boxes are regularly available in the local classifieds for under £40. Sky will sell you a new box as a self fit (you do it yourself) for about £90 IIRC??

Hi everyone, I have Tensai TS-9155 speakers set up attached into my amp however, when playing music it will come from one speaker which is on the left side of my table but then if i move towards the right of the room like take a step suddenly the right speaker picks up connection and plays really low and some what fuzzy. I've cut the plastic around the wiring so its longer and so on when I insert it into the amp but what exactly am I doing wrong in terms of somehow the speakers not projecting the music well?

I have a super old surround receiver that I use for my two huge home speaker things. It's labeled a dolby digital surround receiver. Like I said, it's pretty old. I'm trying to hook my ipod up to it using a plug from my beats headphones (that looks like a larger headphone jack). You just use a regular auxiliary cord, plug it into the large headphone jack thing, and then there's an input spot on the surround receiver for this. It's labeled on the system as "phones". Then I switched to the different sources and couldnt find my ipod. How do I get the sound to my speakers?

I am interesded in getting Harman Kardon AVR2650 7.1 receiver for my 5.1 sound system. I am going to use the 6th and 7th channel to bi amp to my front two speakers. Harman Kardon has a really crappy (don't know if that is too harsh) support staff, so I can't get my info from them. If any Techie here knows, that would be a lifesaver! Thanks
