What is the "azimuth" hole on my cassette deck used for?

The hole marked as "azimuth" is for use in the final stage of assembly and testing to adjust the height of the cassette playback head to ensure proper track tracking by the head.

All cassette players and recorders have an azimuth adjustment method.
