Can I use my ihome as speakers for my tv?

My tv'a speakers are broken and I can't afford to fix them. It's a really old beast of a tv that I use pretty much only for gaming and it'd be expensive to fix. So, I was thinking, could I connect my xbox audio av cables into a RCA female to 3.5mm male adapter and then plug that in to my iHome line in? I have tons if speakers but I use them for my other TV's. Like, I know I can connect some REALLY old cassette devices or MP3 players into it using a bunch of transformers and get it to work. Would an xbox work too?
