How do i connect my rca home theater sound bar to my Panasonic tv?

Model number rts735e, it came with no instruction manual or adapter. Came with red and white wires and i've tried many different wire connections and still nothing, and yes i went to "menu" on the tv and switched it to external speakers

The sound bar has Optical in. If the TV has optical out, then get one of those cables and connect it that way. If the TV has RCA Digital out but not optical, then you will need a converter to get the digital signal to optical. With that brand TV, you probably do have optical out.

Otherwise, use the red/white RCA cables and make sure you are on the sound out jacks of the TV and not sound in jacks. Most of them will be sound in, not out. Those jacks should get sound on them whatever the TV settings are.
