Now use the Sky remote, press the SERVICES button which brings up the set up menus on Sky. Highlight the spanner symbol and then press cursor buttons on the remote to go down and across to the SOUND tab. Come down to Digital Audio Output - HDMI and make sure it is set to Dolby D. Press the GREEN button on the remote to store the new settings. While you are in that menu set the Audio Delay to 20ms. Trust me, that's the correct setting. Remember to press Green again to store any changed settings. These settings will make sure that you get the best sound from the Sky box!
The above presumes you have a Sky HD box with HDMI out. If you're still working off a Sky+ box then it's really time to upgrade. Secondhand boxes are regularly available in the local classifieds for under £40. Sky will sell you a new box as a self fit (you do it yourself) for about £90 IIRC??
