Hooking up xbox or computer to samsung blu ray 3d player?

hey everyone, yesterday i bought a samsung 3d blu ray player with surround sound and i was really thinking i would be able to hook up my xbox or computer to the surround sound, i used an optical cable and ive tried an aux cord and i can only get it to play on the front three speakers, any way i could change this?
